Description

StreetSafe

Once again, Trauma Services is offering StreetSafe FREE to children of NHRMC employees as well as to the public. StreetSafe is a hands-on driving program designed to change the driving behaviors that contribute to crashes, moving violations, DWI's, injuries and death.

StreetSafe emphasizes the decision-making process while focusing on behaviors such as speeding, distractions, following too closely, seatbelt use and the use of alcohol/drugs and driving. Parents and children learned a lot about making safer decisions while behind the wheel as well as the consequences of bad choices.

Feedback from past participants included:

"We both learned a lot and wish it was required for everyone, not just new drivers."

"This is an excellent program and we sincerely thank NHRMC for sponsoring it. It is a good example of reaching out and trying to impact their lives in a good way."

"Thank you for putting this together. It was great! Any chance you will be doing this again next year? My son will be getting his permit later this year."

"Thank you, Trauma Services, for helping to keep our children safe. StreetSafe was an excellent program."

Attendees must have driving experience ( a good familiarity with basic vehicle operation) or have completed Drivers Education. A valid drivers license is not mandatory.

The event will be held May 21st at Hoggard Highschool from 8 am until 1 pm. Parents are asked to attend for the first hour. Spots are limited this year so if you sign up and cannot attend please remember to cancel your registration.
